Scanner for rail inspection

Scanner for rail inspection

UT system for high-speed rail inspection with 100% coverage, encoder-based data acquisition and GPS integration

Solutions for non-destructive testing in the railway sector, featuring ultrasonic systems designed for rail inspection and configurable to meet specific operational needs. This section includes the UDS2-77 rail inspection system, designed for high-speed inspections with 100% coverage, continuous encoder-based data logging and the ability to integrate positioning data.

Examples of use:

  • UT inspection of rails in the railway sector
  • High-speed inspections with full coverage
  • UT data acquisition with positioning (encoder + optional GPS)

The rail monitoring system consists of:

  • Cart adaptable to various rail geometries
  • Multiplexer system
  • Multi-channel UT instrument
  • Water tank
  • UT probe units (available in two configurations)

Sliding system (RSU)

It operates in a water film and is mounted on top of the rail.
Probe configuration:

  • 1 double crystal 0° probe
  • 2 70° probes
  • 2 45° probes
  • 8 58° probes

Wheel system (SL)

This prevents direct contact between the sensors and the rail, reducing wear over time.
Probe configuration:

  • 1 0° probe
  • 2 70° probes
  • 2 40° probes
  • 2 50° probes

We can create probe groups upon customer request.

  • Continuous, encoder-based data logging
  • Option to integrate GPS data for detailed geolocation of the collected UT data
  • Battery-powered operation with a runtime of more than 8 continuous hours
  • Calibration of all channels
  • A-scan view for each individual UT channel
  • Single B-scan view or full B-scan view (all channels on a single screen)
  • Real-time identification of a marker's location and the ability to mark markers using software

The system complies with the following regulations:

  • AREMA
  • EN 16729
  • RDSO
  • ARTC
  • ETN-01-04
UDS2-73 dual-probe version is also available, allowing both rails to be inspected in a single scan, thereby increasing the inspection speed.
